Rashid Khan - Director

Rashid started his career as a Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) in the Drilling Department with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), India in 1990. He has worked with ONGC in various positions from 1990 until 2000. He later joined MB Petroleum Services, Oman as an Snr. Drilling Engineer and successfully helped expand their business across the Middle Eastern region as a technical and commercial expert. Since then he worked with various renowned service providers namely Burgan Drilling Company, Kuwait; ETA Star, UAE; Weatherford BVI, Algeria and AJAPA IPMS, India as a Drilling Consultant driving performance improvement, inventing and pioneering new solutions to technological challenges. He is one among the pioneers of under-balanced drilling using Coiled Tubing in horizontal short-radius re-entry wells in Algeria. He has also championed Drilling Rig Design and overseen Rig Building at OEM Plants in Canada and China in the capacity of Project Manager for Rig Contractors based in the Middle East. He possesses a vast amount of experience in drilling onshore and offshore in shallow and deep water environments in Deep Horizontal / Multilateral conventional drilling and coiled tubing underbalance short radius drilling, performance analysis and improvement, well design and planning, preparation of detailed operational procedures and Hazard-ops, project planning and execution. He formed Upstream Solutions Private Limited (USPL) in 2008 and has been leading USPL’s efforts in being an industry leader in innovative drilling solutions since then. Rashid also pioneered a Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) project for a Client in the north east of India where formation pore pressure is 20-22 ppg in the reservoir section. Rashid is a graduate holding a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the renowned Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology Surat, India and is trained in the Drilling Engineering from PITS, Calgary, Canada and IDT, Dehradun, India. He maintains an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and Project Management Institute.
